Cambiata Choir Practice

Caleb and Hannah's Cambiata Choir has kicked off.

Last year, Tish asked for video so I had to sneak one with my Kodak.

I am sure the audio is not the best in the world.

They are really a neat little group of kids.

I think there are 20 this year. I think there were 24- last year.

Here they are practicing one of the Broadway tunes that they do.

This is "Um-Pa-Pa" from "Oliver".

This is the first song..they use this one to warm up.

The kids like it and I think it is "perky" so I like it to.

If you will look to the left, you will see Grant, Caleb, Benjamin, and Chase.

They are all exhausted from the night before(b-day sleepover at the lake house).

They all went to bed at 4:30 am and were at church at 9:30am.

This was at 2pm.

They are toast....Happy Toast....but still- toast.

The stories are hilarious.

I'm glad I let him go.

Riding Lessons tomorrow.

I'll try to post some pics. We have a good group of kids this year.

Peace.

  4. OK, so everyone's asleep so I can't turn on the sound- maybe that would answer this question, but pardon my stupidity.....what's a Combiata Choir? I'm a muscial type gal, but have never heard of that....is it a Southern thing? (You know, we Yankees miss out on a lot living up here in the north!)

I'll watch the video tomorrow- that may explain a lot!!

    Hey Chick! OK ...I spelled it wrong..Its C-a-m-biata..not C-o-m.
    Crazy!
Anyway~ It means a "melodic tone in steps". These kids sing everything in parts. Maybe I can get a better video at the concert in a few weeks.
The man you see in the video is
"Dr. Bob". He has been a professor of voice and music FOREVER and started teaching these kids when he retired. He gets them involved in Symphony and Opera and Muscial theatre. His wife teaches piano to most of them. They are a blessing to this bunch.
Then he has the best pianist around and the best alto and soprano coach helping the girls...so it is just a WIN-WIN situation for us.
You know you have a gift if you can make Opera and Choral music look "COOL" to a teen-age boys & girls.
Someohow Bob manages to do that...Go figure.

    :)

  8. VERY NICE!!!!!!! The kids sound amazing even with little sleep to boot!

Hey the video sounds good even with your hippy happy music playing simultaneously in the background....the 'come on get happy' blends very nicely with the 'um pa pa':-). Ha!

    Hugs,
    Tami
