Cookin' Up Chaos!

We always let the kids pick the menu on the girls last night here.

Everybody gets to help.
Layton and Hannah were in charge of the baked fish.
Oh! How happy their husbands will be.

Riley and Mary were getting things ready to make the
bundt cake.
Note** Mary likes to cook in her underwear.....
She gets that from her Daddy's people.

Riley , Ben , Mary, and Rachel were in charge of dessert.

They did a great job.

Rachel's first egg landed on the floor, but the
second one made it to the bowl.

Mary was the official mixer for the eggs, oil ,water, and butter.

Then out came the hand mixer. Lehmann's has them online
and the kids love it.
No batter on the walls!

Everyone got a turn.

Riley was telling Ben that ALL of the lumps had to be gone.

Now for the moment we've all been waiting for....
Licking the Bowl!

Yeah..I know some of you are screaming,"But the Eggs are raw!".
Well, My Grandmaw always let us lick the bowl
(and the beaters and the spoons) and we all lived..
So I figure they will, too.

This was my favorite part.
All of the kids were complimenting each other on a job well done.
It was pretty sweet.

The girls will not be back until Thanksgiving break.

We miss them already.

Peace.

  3. Adorable!!!! What a sweet memory they are making together..

And the pics of Mary in her apron and undies.. priceless. She might be on to something. So liberating. IF I could get away with it, I would go for it. But sadly, my thighs and backside won't allow. Oh yeah, and might not be appropriate with a house full of kids... ;)

    Happy Day!

    :)

  4. OK, how cute are they??!! My heavens. So much cuteness, all in one place!!!

LOOOOVE the hats/aprons... love the comment that Mary gets it from "her Daddy's people", that cracks me up!!!!!

The raw egg thing... I threw up my hands a long time ago on that one. Who is going to deprive a kid of batter??? It would just be WRONG.

And like you said... we all lived, so I guess they will too. :)

    Love ya!

Thanks for the update below, I still can't help but wonder if they ever would get adopted if they were kept in China.:(

  8. Haha... following in the ways of the underpants! Your little youngins are just scrumptious; I just want to dog pile them and tickle them all. By the way, I was a total egg-beater chica growing up. Turns out I never got salmonella until I was older and my husband made brownies... I thought he'd turn on the dishwasher and he didn't. I grabbed a spoon for cereal and just happened to grab THE EGG SPOON! EEEKKKK that was so bad.

Now I make oatmeal cookie dough, not for cooking, but without egg for eating because my husband took away egg privileges from me. He put me in egg prison since I got sick just once! =0(

  10. Oh I love these pictures!!! So great!

I'm getting a bit nervous about homeschooling. Mia's tantrums are LONG. Trying to figure out how to get her out of them so I can still home school. 3 hours of crying takes a toll.

  11. My father-in-law says he heard somewhere (not sure how reliable) that mixing the egg with sugar helps kill the bacteria. That means that dough is more or less safer than, say, a spoon taken out of the dishwasher. (Thanks for that safety tip, Other Reader. I definitely will be more careful myself now.)

Whether or not the sugar thing is true, I also wonder how batter can be so dangerous all of the sudden when everyone I know liked spoons and bowls as kids. Even with "folks didn't know any better back then" you'd think they would notice when all the kids got sick. I mean, people notice what plants can and can't be eaten, etc.
