Lazy Days, Make-up and Sally, Dick & Jane..............

A few of my sweet bloggy friends have e-mailed to ask
if I am still around. LOL!

YEP! We're still here!

Things slow down when Summer Hits The South....

This is the first time in a LONG time that we have had absolutely NOTHING
to do. No VBS, No Rodeo, No Riding lessons, No Riding Camp, No Theatre,
No Music lessons, No Trips, Not a single thing.........
and man are we enjoying it!

We are finishing up our school work and trying to decide what curriculum
to use next year.
Things will be a little different next year, we will have a High School Freshman,
a 5th grader, a 1 1/2 grader(you can do that if you home educate :),
a kindergartner, and a K4 that thinks she is in the 6th grade.

Never a dull moment.

Bob and Allie ,ages 7 and 8.
Two of the best baby sitters known to man. :)

Bob was Caleb's 7th birthday present. He has been the
most precious dog I have ever owned. He has a problem with his
spinal cord that is causing him a little paralysis. He is on meds and gets shots
from Stacy in 5 day intervals. He feels a lot better and is as perky as a pup.
He is on doggy pain meds and can run around because of it. We are all about
quality of life, at this point.
This morning @ 2a.m., I remembered that I hadn't seen Bob after supper.
My "God Voice" was telling me to go to the barn. I tried to ignore it
and go back to sleep, but IT just got louder and louder, so I get up
and slip on shoes and head down our driveway to the barn. The little white
collie, Allie, was right behind me. The whole time I was calling for Bob.
I was about 5 yards from the barn and I called again and I could hear
this muffled thumping sound coming from the tack room. It was Bob's
tail bumping against the wall as he wagged it.
Earlier in the day,Caleb and I had gone to the barn to treat one of the
horses and Bob had slipped into the tack room to take a nap on the nice,
cool, concrete floors.
Luckily for him and us, it was a cloudy day and it even rained a little.
A 94 degree day would have killed him. It gets THAT hot in there
if the doors are closed.

Thank goodness for the"Little Voice".
A Blessing to anyone who will take the time to listen.

Ben and Hannah spent a day writing plays and "Broadway
Musicals" for all of us to enjoy and video.
Hannah did most of the composing and had to eventually
take over the lyrics. Most of Ben's song involved some sort of
bathroom humor and the occasional "Big Fat Bumm".
He mostly dictated the script to Hannah.

Hannah was laughing so hard she had to stop writing and I just
came in and video'd so that they would not forget what they said.
They are pretty funny little monkeys.

This was the cast of characters: Sonic, Sponge Bob Squarepants,
Patrick,Marion(Raiders of the Lost Ark) and Knuckles.

Hannah was in charge of wardrobe!

Mary and Rachel are enjoying the fact that I will let them play in their
makeup , because we have nowhere to go. :)
They both LOVE the blue eye shadow. The darker ,the better!

We have had the chance to veg out and read book after book.

This picture was taken at 3 in the afternoon and Mary is still in
her pajamas.

This is her favorite book-right now.

We teach our children to read using Hooked on Phonics and Sally,
Dick,& Jane. It worked for us when we were in school, so we
figured we'd go with what we knew.

Mary will find me with her little book in hand and tell me that
it is time for her to do HER school work!

She loves the pictures ! She calls Dick,"BEN", and
Jane, "RACHEL". I will correct her and she will tell
me "No MaMa!" She's a smart little cookie.

If you'll notice there are no pictures of Caleb here.

If I had one, it would be of him-lying on his bed- reading a book.

He gets up early, feeds the animals with his sister, has breakfast,
does his work, plays with the kids, and as soon as the sun starts to go
down-that is his free time.

That's when he can read the books of his choice and he looks forward
to a few minutes to himself.

He is my right hand man when his Daddy is at work. He has a lot of
responsibility, and when he is reading we all try not to disturb him,
unless we really have to.

So no pictures of what he's been doing.

His Youth Group has a "Youth-iversity" this week.

It is a week long study that meets at a different home each night.

They are all really excited. They are a fun group of kids.

It is here on Wednesday.

I'll take some pictures.

Until then..........................................

Peace.

  9. Wow this was the BESTEST post ever. :) I love the story about Bob. Yes we should listen to that voice more often!!! That was the Spirit sista!!

Isn't it the best to have nothing going on?? We skipped VBS this week. The kids were having too much fun playing house and riding bikes, I couldn't bear to drop them off somewhere for 2 hours. I am definitely in summer relaxation mode!

The story about the musical had me laughing. SO sounds like our kiddos. I think they would all get along great.

    Love ya girlfriend!
