My children and I were having lunch after VBS on Monday and the daughter of some Asian friends walked up to me and said, " I bet it is REALLY REALLY hard for you to raise all of these CHINESE kids, huh?"
I thought for a few seconds and replied, " It's not any harder than raising all these WHITE kids."
"Really?", she said.
"Really, Really.",I said.
We both giggled and she continued to chit- chat with the kids until it was time to leave.
Later that evening it occurred to me...It is only "harder" or " different" raising our adopted children- if/when I allow it to be.
Things are better for me and my family when I give us all a break and shelf the "HOW TO RAISE AN ADOPTED CHILD" books and dust off the"DOCTOR SEUSS".
The single most important thing I can do for ALL of my children is ask the LORD to keep me FOCUSED on just being THE MAMA...not The Biological Mother or The Adoptive Mother...just THE MAMA.........
Something the "experts" never bother to mention.
I hope all of your summers are going well.
XOXO
