Oh! Yeah!

Governor Sarah Palin:
"And I thank you, Senator McCain and Mrs. McCain, for the confidence that you have placed in me. Senator, I am honored to be chosen as your running mate.
I will be honored to serve next to the next president of the United States.
"I know that when Senator McCain gave me this opportunity, he had a short list of highly qualified men and women, and to have made that list at all -- it was a privilege.
And to have been chosen brings a great challenge.
I know that it will demand the best that I have to give, and I promise nothing less.
"First, there are a few people whom I would like you to meet.
I want to start with my husband, Todd.
And Todd and I are actually celebrating our 20th anniversary today, and I promised him a little surprise for the anniversary present, and hopefully he knows that I did deliver.
"And then we have as -- after my husband, who is a lifelong commercial fisherman, lifetime Alaskan -- he's a production operator.
Todd is a production operator in the oil fields up on Alaska's North Slope, and he's a proud member of the United Steelworkers Union, and he's a world champion snow machine racer. Todd and I met way back in high school, and I can tell you that he is still the man that I admire most in this world.
"Along the way, Todd and I have shared many blessings, and four out of five of them are here with us today.
Our oldest son, Track, though, he'll be following the presidential campaign from afar.
On September 11th of last year, our son enlisted in the United States Army.
Track now serves in an infantry brigade.
And on September 11th, Track will deploy to Iraq in the service of his country.
And Todd and I are so proud of him and of all the fine men and women serving the country in uniform.
"Next to Todd is our daughter Bristol; another daughter, Willow; our youngest daughter, Piper; and over in their arms is our son Trig, a beautiful baby boy.
He was born just in April.
His name is Trig Paxson Van Palin.
"Some of life's greatest opportunities come unexpectedly, and this is certainly the case today. I never really set out to be involved in public affairs, much less to run for this office.
My mom and dad both worked at the local elementary school.
And my husband and I, we both grew up working with our hands.
"I was just your average 'hockey mom' in Alaska.
We were busy raising our kids.
I was serving as the team mom and coaching some basketball on the side.
I got involved in the PTA and then was elected to the city council and then elected mayor of my hometown, where my agenda was to stop wasteful spending and cut property taxes and put the people first.
"I was then appointed ethics commissioner and chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and when I found corruption there, I fought it hard and I held the offenders to account.
Along with fellow reformers in the great state of Alaska, as governor, I've stood up to the old politics as usual, to the special interests, to the lobbyists, the Big Oil companies and the 'good old boy' network.
"When oil and gas prices went up so dramatically and the state revenues followed with that increase, I sent a large share of that revenue directly back to the people of Alaska -- and we are now -- we're now embarking on a $40 billion natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence.
"I signed major ethics reforms, and I appointed both Democrats and independents to serve in my administration. And I've championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress.
In fact, I told Congress thanks, but no thanks, on that "Bridge to Nowhere." If our state wanted a bridge, I said, we'd build it ourselves.
"Well, it's always, though, safer in politics to avoid risk, to just kind of go along with the status quo. But I didn't get into government to do the safe and easy things.
A ship in harbor is safe, but that's not why the ship is built. Politics isn't just a game of competing interests and clashing parties.
The people of America expect us to seek public office and to serve for the right reasons. And the right reason is to challenge the status quo and to serve the common good.
"Now, no one expects us to agree on everything, whether in Juneau or in Washington. But we are expected to govern with integrity and good will and clear convictions and a servant's heart.
"Now, no leader in America has shown these qualities so clearly or presents so clear a threat to business as usual in Washington as Senator John S. McCain. This -- this is a moment when principles and political independence matter a lot more than just the party line. And this is a man who has always been there to serve his country, not just his party.
"And this is a moment that requires resolve and toughness and strength of heart in the American president.
And my running mate is a man who has shown those qualities in the darkest of places and in the service of his country.
A colleague once said about Senator McCain: That man did things for this country that few people could go through; never forget that.
And that speaker was former Senator John Glenn of Ohio. And John Glenn knows something about heroism."
And I'm going to make sure nobody does forget that in his campaign.
There is only one candidate who has truly fought for America, and that man is John McCain.
"This is a moment -- this is a moment when great causes can be won and great threats overcome, depending on the judgment of our next president.
In a dangerous world, it is John McCain who will lead America's friends and allies in preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
"It was John McCain who cautioned long ago about the harm that Russian aggression could do to Georgia and to other small Democratic neighbors and to the world oil markets.
"It was Senator McCain who refused to hedge his support for our troops in Iraq, regardless of the political costs.
And you know what? As the mother of one of those troops and as the commander of Alaska's National Guard, that's the kind of man I want as our commander in chief.
"Profiles in courage, they can be hard to come by these days.
You know, so often we just find them in books.
But next week when we nominate John McCain for president, we're putting one on the ballot!
"To serve as vice president beside such a man would be the privilege of a lifetime, and it's fitting that this trust has been given to me 88 years almost to the day after the women of America first gained the right to vote.
"I think as well today of two other women who came before me in national elections.
I can't begin this great effort without honoring the achievements of Geraldine Ferraro in 1984, and, of course, Senator Hillary Clinton, who showed such determination and grace in her presidential campaign.
"It was rightly noted in Denver this week that Hillary left 18 million cracks in the highest, hardest glass ceiling in America.
But it turns out the women of America aren't finished yet, and we can shatter that glass ceiling once and for all.
"So for my part, the mission is clear. The next 67 days I'm going to take our campaign to every part of our country and our message of reform to every voter of every background, in every political party, or no party at all.
If you want change in Washington, if you hope for a better America, then we're asking for your vote on the 4th of November.
"My fellow Americans, come join our cause.
Join our cause and help our country to elect a great man the next president of the United States. And I thank you, and I --
God bless you, I say, and God bless America.
Thank you."
Just in case you missed it.
Peace.

URGENT HALF THE SKY REQUEST!

Have you had a chance to help child earthquake victims in the AmericanExpress Members Project I wrote about last week?

For a while, it looked as if Half the Sky’s Big Tops – the children’s recovery centers we’re creating in Sichuan refugee camps – were a shoo-in for the top 25.

But now, with only 4 days left, our chances aren’t lookingso good.

PLEASE HELP US TODAY - AND PLEASE, RIGHT NOW, FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!

Anyone with an email address can nominate a project.

The more nominations we get, the better our chances are.

It’s easy and it doesn’t cost one penny!

Our project is called, "HELP CHILDREN RECOVER FROM EARTHQUAKE IN CHINA"and if it makes the top 25, it could get enough funding from AmericanExpress to build and operate four Big Tops for two years.

To nominate ourproject for potential funding, please follow these simple steps:1. Go to http://www.membersproject.com/project/view/YBIBMW.
2. Click on "NOMINATE THIS PROJECT" button.
3. Sign up & log in as a Guest Member or a Cardmember.
4. The button will turn into a sentence that says "You have nominated this project".

If you have any problems, please let us know.

I’ll be posting some more photos of our amazing work in Sichuan soon.
In the meantime….Won't you please help us today?

Many thanks-
Jenny

Baby Steps

This is what I feel like.

I am not a "Baby Step'r" and from all accounts ( my parents,
people in my hometown, people in other towns, people in
other states,people in other countries)-
I never have been.

This is killing me.

After spending a year in a process that hit a brick wall.....
I guess I should just be thankful.

My Dad wanted to know "where are we"......so I thought this would be fun!

We are *HERE...........................

Fed-Ex'd our Documents to Houston.

Courier will deliver tomorrow( after lunch) and pick them
up on Tuesday morning.

Then they are Fed-Ex'd for Translation and
we are DTC (Dossier To China).

Then we are *HERE.........................

Then we are LID (Log In Date).............

Mine is the Blue One on TOP!

Then we are *HERE........

Maybe we have identified a child by this time.
Wouldn't that be cool?!

See...here they are saying,"OH MY GOSH! It's Andrea and her family!
She hasn't changed a bit! She doesn't look a day over 20!"

Then we will see this guy..... A LOT!

Then we get to do this.......

This time I WILL be "carry-on only"!

Then we get to do this.................

Then we are *HERE....................

This time I will climb to the top with Stacy!

He was the only one out of our group who did.

It was snowing, so...I was back at the Tea House
drinking tea and eating dried bananas with the locals! :)

And then we are *HERE................

*HERE is where I want to be.

Baby Steps Bite.

A GIFT FROM ME TO YOU............

This is what happens in my home if I let things go
for 3 or 4 days.

Sometimes I have to.

We have had dentist appointments and outside obligations galore,
so the housework is the last thing that gets done.

This is the classroom after yesterday's 9th grade,
5th grade, 2nd grade, Kindergarten, Pre-K Session!

This is the Playroom!

This is where I found Mary-when she was SUPPOSED
to be helping pick up toys.

No beds have been made!

The Boys ACTUALLY have the cleanest room in the house.....

If you don't count the RED SLEEP SHORTS hanging
off the top of Ben's bed!

So this is my gift to you-

Print off a few of these pictures and tape them to your refrigerator
door.

The next time you are beating yourself up over the fact that you are
"Domestically Challenged"............

Remember that it could be worse-

Your house could look like mine!

That HAS to make you feel better.

PEACE.

Happy Happy Me.

Oh, Yeah! He is SO getting a birth/adoption announcement.

"Your Gonna Have To Walk Around With A Shot- Gun In Your Hand!"

Stacy gets told this alot.

Basically, it means that your girls are so beautiful that
Daddy will have to carry a shotgun around to keep
the boys off of them.

In the South, it is one of the nicest compliments someone
that can give you.

Last weekend , Stacy took the big kids to see
the new Star Wars movie.

Mary Elizabeth and I stayed home for some Girl Fun-
complete with hair, nails, and make-up.

I took these pictures while she was on our bed watching
Max & Ruby.

If this is any indication of what she will look like
as an 18 year old............................

the shot-gun isn't going to work.

He's going to have to carry grenades!

Peace.

8.21.2008

Rachel loves the rain...................

Rain in the South .

Rachel loves it.

Sometimes I catch her sitting by the window- just watching it fall.

If there is no lightening, we sit on the porch and listen to it......

If its not raining too hard, we play in it............

If someone sings a song, we dance in it..........

It makes the roses smell better..........

Nothing tastes better............................

It makes you laugh without even trying................

It feels good on your little tootsies.....................

It makes you feel warm & cold at the same time...................

It makes you happy to be a kid..........

It makes me happy she's a kid,too.

Peace.

The Power of Prayer

Today I exchanged e-mails with the most wonderful INS field officer in
the world, and when it was all over.............................

He said that I did not need to send another Home study!

The Home study he had in his hand would satisfy the INS qualifications.

They would add the word "months" to our application- since it was obvious that we were not trying to adopt a 24 year old.

It's all good.

Happy Happy Day!

Thank you for the prayers.......You know who you are!

I know that it was prayer that saved the day.

I know that it was God saying," You ask me to show you MY will..well here it is!."

I cannot tell you how humbled I am by it, but I will tell you this.....................

I cried, I was angry, I called my husband, I called my Best Friend, I sent an e-mail to my Bloggy Best Friend, and not once did I have the sense to stop and PRAY( until it was brought to my attention that it would probably be a good idea).

Thank you for standing in the gap for us.

When I am angry, the gap is HUGE.

You never fail to show love, and I love you for it.

Peace.

8.19.2008

You WILL send my INS approval.......You WILL send my INS approval........You WILL send my INS approval.......

So... You think YOU'RE having a bad day?

I have been waiting for our INS approval for 3 months.

Unlike most people that are STILL waiting for their approval,
this is not the fault of our INS office.

They are great!

My social worker has had to send 3 different copies of our Homestudy!

3!

She has mis-worded, or left out dates, who knows what else.

Today , I get an e-mail stating that they have received HS # 3,
BUT she left out the word "MONTHS" from our referral request.............
Which basically has us requesting to adopt a child up to 24 years old.

So guess what that means?
They need another Home study.
One that has gone through the Mississippi Department of Human Services and
that has been notarized at the local level.

3 months of this.

I am probably going to have to re-do half of my dossier because of this.

To say that I am angry would be an understatement.

I would leave it like it is and just take the approval with the "24" on it,
but with the luck I've been having lately...The CCAA would probably refer
us one of the AYI'S!

So ....How was your day?

Peace.

Time to "COWBOY UP"!

Fall Riding Lessons start in a couple of weeks.

We are doing all of the cleaning that goes with it.

The kids are really excited - and by kids, I mean all of the kids that
took lessons last year.

I see them at the grocery store, the Wal-Mart, you name it.

They are all chompin' at the bit to get started.

My kids are happy,too.

They've gotten bored over the last few months. Not enough to do, I guess.

I've tried talking Hannah into waiting a few months to ride,
but she insists that she can ride with a cast....so , we'll see.

Rodeo Season is also starting, along with School, Choir, Youth Group,
and anything else we can squeeze in!

Where did the summer go?

We can already smell fall in the air.

I found the Cowboy Ten Commandments, I thought some of you would enjoy them.

My kids always get a big laugh out of the wording.

Ten Commandments -

Cowboy Style.

(1) Just one God.

(2) Honor yer Ma & Pa.

(3) No telling tales or gossipin'.

(4) Git yourself to Sunday meeting.

(5) Put nothin' before God.

(6) No foolin' around with another fellow's gal.

(7) No killin'.

(8) Watch yer mouth.

(9) Don't take what ain't yers.

(10) Don't be hankerin' for yer buddy's stuff.

Good Stuff.

Peace.

2 pounds from my goal!

28 pounds lighter.

I am a little bummed. I REALLY wanted to hit the '30',
But I will at some point.

I started out at 180.

This was the only 'before' picture I had and
I was in workout clothes - so I decided to take the 'after'
picture in work out clothes, too.

Here I am at 152.

And yes, I look VERY uncomfortable, because I hate
to have my picture taken.

I did this for Tish ! I hope you are happy!

My ideal weight for my body type and height is 140-145.

That is my new goal.

Even at 140, I will still be 20 pounds heavier than I was when Stacy and
I got married- But I will have to learn to live with it.
I like sugar WAY too much!

So here I am...2 pounds from my horse!

Now the the BIG decision............

Do I want a Quarter Horse......................
^
^

Or a Mustang?!

Technically, a MUSTANG is a horse. :)

Peace.

Monkey Kings turn 2!

The boys turned 2 on the same day Mary Elizabeth turned 3.

I wondered what they were doing.

If they had a party ? If they even knew that it was their birthday?

As you can see, they DID have a party!

These Ayi's LOVE these kids.

I was glad to see these pictures.

They look so tiny in these high chairs.

As my gran-maw would say,
"Those boys need some biscuits!"

We haven't heard a thing about our request to
adopt them, so Karla is sending us a Special Needs
questionnaire today.

We feel like we need to get a move on.

I ain't gettin' any younger!

I hope that they are adopted ,soon.

It is heartbreaking that so many children wait,
when there are people waiting in line to love them.

Makes no sense. No sense at all.

Peace.
